If you have been in Palette & Paper recently, you may have noticed one of the new items we have in stock are the 28 Lilac Lane decorative embellishments jars. These jars contain 3 oz of buttons, 50 Pearl Accents, 10 grams of seed beads, and 10 grams of sequins for only $5! They come in a great selection of colorways and are just perfect for crafting with.
Now, everyone, repeat after me, “Those are so pretty!” :-) There are so many pretty things you can make with buttons too! Seriously, so many cute things . . . look below for just a fraction of the “button inspiration” that I have come across.
Just feast your eyes on the inspiration below. Creating a piece of “Button Art” would be a great craft night activity for you and the girls, a fun summer time activity for the kids and more.
Incorporate buttons into you card making
You can use buttons in your card making to add dimension and pops of colors. In a lot of ways, buttons can be used the same way as enamel dots. Click here for more inspiration.
It's pretty cool to see the many creations you can make with buttons. We will see you at P&P so you can pick up a jar!
Did you know today was National Drawing Day? If that isn't an excuse to spend an hour or two getting creative, I don't know what is! According to the website Days of the Year, National Drawing Day is "dedicated to the artist inside of us and encouraging it to come out". That is definitely a holiday Palette & Paper can get behind!
Speaking of drawing, we have the new Prima Marketing Graphite Sticks, that are water-soluble, in stock! With these Graphite Sticks, get ready to create amazing effects with the versatile sticks! Use them for mixed media projects, watercoloring and sketching. The package includes six sticks that each have a different degree of softness and smudgability 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B, 10B and 12B. The monochromatic looks are stunning or use them in addition to other colored mediums.
Just look at some of the gorgeous creations that can be made using these Graphite Sticks.
Since May is the month of flowers, I thought I would share some flower drawing tutorials to help you celebrate today.
We hope you find the time to celebrate National Drawing Day today or sometime this week (tomorrow evening's Open Studio would be a great time to draw)! See you around P&P soon.
We are only 10 days away from Mother’s Day. Do you have gifts for the moms, aunts, mother-in-laws, mommies-to-be and more ready to go? If not, no worries . . . We have compiled a little round-up of fun gifts to buy and make for those special ladies in your life.
Is the “mom” in your life crafty? Or do they aspire to get crafty? Bring her to Palette & Paper so she can explore her craftiness. You could get her a gift certificate or sign-up her up for one of our classes (she would probably like it if you were there too!). We have a bunch of great things coming up!
Give her an early gift and celebrate Mother’s Day with one of our National Scrapbook Day classes featuring Graphic 45 this weekend.
Jann Gray is coming back to P&P later this month with bible journaling and other craft classes. Jann is still finalizing details and we will have details posted soon.
Barbara is leading another Coffee & Canvas later this month and you will be amazed at what you can create on canvas with watercolors and napkins (yes, napkins!).
We are going “global” with Beth Kingston in June. You might recognize Beth from when she was at P&P at the end of 2015 or from her many appearances on HSN.
Ken Oliver will be here for three classes in June also, and it is amazing what you can create with his ColorBursts. Click here for the rundown on all his classes.
Want to pick out a great crafty gift for your “moms”? Here are some of our current favs!
Help her get organized and record memories by setting her up with a Carpe Diem Planner and some amazing Prima Marketing stickers and more (starting at $4).
Is your “mom” a card maker? Help her expand her craft with some embossing folders and die sets to create some unique and unusual cards.
Is your “mom” into mixed media? We have some fun new items she can use in her art work, including these fun oversized “thickboard” oversized tags and new waxes from Finnabair.
Even if crafts aren’t your “mom’s” thing you can still share your hobby with her by giving her a handmade card or gift. Below is some inspiration.
If you follow Palette & Paper on Instagram and/or Facebook you saw that the new Tim Holtz’s Distress Oxide Ink Pads are in stock!
So, what is a Distress Oxide? How does it differ from Tim’s other distress products?
Distress Oxide Ink Pads are a water-reactive dye and pigment fusion. They create an oxidized effect when sprayed with water. They come in 12 colors including Tim’s gorgeous colors of “Worn Lipstick”, “Cracked Pistachio”, “Vintage Photo” and more.
Since they have pigment in them they work well on darker paper also. Check out the various colors on white, kraft and black paper.
When it comes to stamping, Distress Oxides work better for stamping giving an opaquer look vs. Distress Inks that tend to be “blotchy” when stamping.
You can check out Tim demoing the Distress Oxide Ink Pads while at Creativation here:

You need all 12 colors, rights? Be sure to tag us on Instagram and/or Facebook if you share what you have created with Distress Oxide Inks!
